Senior Controls Systems Analyst

Practical Solutions has a Materials Handling client that requires an experienced Controls Engineer to concept, design, and layout Material handling systems.  This person needs to assist in the sales and proposal efforts as well as mentor junior engineers in control system theory.  This is a project leadership position and requires a team leader that has excellent people skills as well as technical skills.

The Controls Systems Analyst will work on automated warehousing projects that could include Warehouse WMS,  Warehouse Control Systems and all other software and controls related aspects for automated warehouse projects.  Knowledge of WMS is preferred.  Experience with software warehouse automation with Warehouse Control Systems and PLCs is required for this position.

Requirements:

This position will require someone very knowledgeable with working with new and existing complex automated controls systems to identify/correct system issues to keep our customer systems operational and at their peak performance.

Sales – Work with sales Managers and Systems Development (data analysis and design engineering) by recommending systems solutions, pricing the software and document the proposed customer processes for the quoted systems.

Projects - Support Project Management as a project team member on software related activities:

	Determine customer functional requirements for new systems
	Author/Review technical functional specifications
	Interface with Our and/or 3rd party developers
	Stay involved with the project to help with customer questions, integration and interfacing issues, etc.
	Systems Site implementation (possibly developing and/or conducting training, acceptance tests and resolving problems encountered at the site)
	Review final documentation deliverables

Customer Support - Assist 24x7 customer service staff to resolve systems related issues at customer sites.  Perform site surveys to determine where existing customers can make improvements with their systems, possibly quoting additional work or changes. Networking and Interfacing to ERP systems such as SAP is helpful

Required Skills:

	Experience with LINUX, Oracle RDBMS & PL/SQL, C++, C
	Use of scripting tools to capture and analyze data
	Familiarity with Windows Server, .NET

Senior CONTROLS ENGINEER - Material Handling Systems

Leading manufacturer of material handling equipment is looking to hire a PLC Programmer / Sr. CONTROLS ENGINEER. this position is responsible for commissioning new installations of conveying and sortation systems. This is a "hands on" position requiring the ability to understand and trouble shoot the electro-mechanical aspects ( not just a programmer sitting behind a PC). In addition you will be responsible for communicating customer expectations and provide hot line support.

Background requirements:
o 3 plus years of controls/electrical engineering experience.
o BS degree in engineering preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial)

Location:
o Ideal location for this position would be New Jersey, but would consider anyone located near a major airport.
o Travel - - 50% travel .

Experience Requirements:
o Must have experience with conveying and sortation equipment
o Must have strong PLC background in Siemens and/or Allen Bradley

Manager, Warehouse Control Systems Department, Permanent

Overview:

Client is opening a new state-of-the-art direct to consumer facility and needs a Manager of D2C Warehouse Control Systems who will partner with the facility VP and the Director, Direct-to-Consumer Systems and the Operating Vice President of Engineering with all facets of start-up activities.

Key Accountabilities:

	Primary on-site systems owner at facility for warehouse control systems (WCS)
	Assume front line support to investigate and troubleshoot WCS issues at DC
	Promote Logistics (ML) objectives for the defined set of D2C processes
	Serve as central point of ownership at facility for specification compliance, engineering changes, coordination with application and installation teams, and technical support agreements
	Partner with Logistics and Operations teams to ensure that all business needs are met through systems support/changes based on business partner requirements
	Participate in configuration, testing/validation and implementation of material handling control systems releases in D2C network
	Assist with the development of training documentation and participate in training on-site Associates
	Coordinate team meetings to monitor and ensure progress on open issues or projects
	Communicate project progress, raising areas of concern to appropriate levels within the Logistics Division
	Manage schedules and expectations within facility related to all D2C WCS changes or enhancements
	Provide weekly status updates to project team

Skill Summary:

	5+ years experience in direct to consumer (D2C) or retail distribution environments, strong project management skills along with material handling and warehousing systems and technology knowledge.  Experience with inbound/outbound carton sorters and unit sorter preferred.
	Experience with conveyor and tilt tray sortation systems and barcode scanning applications.
	Hands on experience with PLC based applications related to the interface and management of the sortation systems communications
	Superior project management skills; and written/verbal communication skills
	Six Sigma and industrial engineering experience a plus.
	Willingness to travel (up to 50% during start-up)

Field Service Engineer

Coordinate the tactical activities of Customer Service Department. Provides in-house and on-site support for Client's customer base. This includes after-hours "On-Call" duties.

MAIN DUTIES/TASKS:

	Position oversees technical installation, upgrades, maintenance and repairs to MPEG2, DVB, and ATSC broadcast systems for Americas region, including 24/7 on-call coverage for technical assistance and trouble shooting with customers.
	Serves as the direct maintenance liaison for clients. Responds via phone and on-site to customer calls and complaints regarding technical issues. Maintains records relating to technical repair projects and services provided.
	Provides 24/7 day-to-day technical assistance, support and trouble shooting via the telephone with other CS Engineers.
	Serves as a primary corporate contact for specific customer matters related to maintenance support.
	Maintains Client's Customer Service reputation and status within the broadcast industry by testing and reviewing the pre-staging, re-installation and/or upgrades of existing systems.
	Provides after hours customer technical support on a rotating basis (24x7 support).
	Assists in the pre-stage and installation of new systems. This requires the ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
	Travels to customer facilities when required. Estimated travel is 50%+.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

	Bachelor's Degree/foreign degree equivalent in Electrical Engineering, and a minimum of 5 years of electronics experience in the video broadcast industry required.
	Experience must include work with MPEG-2/DVB systems design, installation, configuration and testing of end-to-end digital video delivery systems such as: Direct-To-Home TV delivery systems, Cable Headends, and Television Stations.
